Lou Weir
Attorney Lou Weir has been practicing for over 25 years,
specializing in Social Security Disability. As an expert
concentrating on Social Security law, he works on giving the
best possible representation to his clients. Many firms try to
service all types of cases and may not have much depth of
experience in any particular category.
Mr. Weir is a graduate of the University of Michigan and
received his Juris Doctor degree from Cooley Law School. He
has been licensed to practice law in Michigan since 1981. He
practices before all state and federal courts, and has had
many successful appeals at the Courts of Appeal and The
Michigan Supreme Court.
Jeanette Mason
Ms. Mason has worked as a legal assistant in Social Security
Disability for over twelve years. She works as a case manager
developing our cases for the initial level and for appeals. Jeanette
has high intelligence and persistence. This comes in handy for
working with the Social Security Administration which can be
confusing and difficult. She can solve many difficult problems
which arise in cases because of this.
Stephanie Laird
Ms. Laird is a case manager developing cases for initial
applications and on appeal. She is currently pursuing her
Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies at Madonna University. She
has a strong interest in helping each client succeed in each case.
Her caring attention to each client is noticed and appreciated by
them.
Elizabeth Kochevar
Ms. Kochevar has two undergraduate degrees from Eastern
Michigan University. She first graduated with a degree in Business
Administration and began a career in the mortgage industry. She
began as a loan officer, and then progressed to ownership of a
small mortgage company which was purchased by a larger
company. Ms. Kochevar was the Vice-President of Administration
of the larger company. After some time off as a stay-at-home
mom, Beth obtained a degree in Paralegal Studies from Eastern
Michigan University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Ms. Kochevar is active in the American Cancer Society Relay for
Life program. She helps organize and support various events.
Tara McKenzie
Ms. McKenzie is a graduate of the University of Michigan and
Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She has practiced for over 15
years. She worked as an advisor to the automobile manufacturing
industry for over ten years. She helped in the selection of
experts and the development of discovery and responses to
complex litigation. Her great attention to detail and ability to
synthesize complex information led to her success in this field. As
a result, she has been a guest lecturer for engineering groups,
including those at the University of Michigan.
Ms. McKenzie has served as a volunteer for HERO of Washtenaw
County and served as President in 2000 and 2001. Through this
organization, she has mentored homeless people, helping them to
overcome obstacles to housing and a stable lifestyle.
Emmalee Lubinski
Ms. Lubinski is our receptionist/transcriber. She has an
Associate's Degree from Oakland Community College and is a
certified court reporter. Emmalee is cheerful and capable, two
great characteristics for the front of our office. Our clients also
appreciate her general helpfulness and attention to detail.
With offices in Brighton and Ann Arbor, Mr. Weir handles cases in Oakland, Wayne,
Washtenaw, Livingston, Genesee, Ingham and Jackson counties. He is currently a council
member of the Social Security section of the Michigan State Bar Association. Because of
his expertise in Social Security Disability, Mr. Weir has been invited to speak to various
groups concerning these issues.
Mr. Weir belongs to all the usual attorney organizations and enjoys helping people obtain
the benefits they are entitled to.
Tara combines her ability to understand and explain complex issues with persistence in
the courtroom. Her natural curiosity and interest in the law and medical issues keeps her
learning more and more about each case. This has made her a very effective and
successful Social Security Disability attorney. She wins a very high percentage of her
cases.
Beth's background makes her ideal for office administrator as well as paralegal. As a
paralegal, she both develops cases and helps argue them on appeal. She has a sincere
